The next day was spent discovering the different parts of the resort, meals, and more snorkeling.

The life vest and snorkel was rented at RM10 per day per unit and we didn’t think about the flippers until after our first snorkeling trip. The Boyfriend had to pull me along as I figured how to paddle. I didn’t think I was going anywhere paddling the way I did and the current didn’t help either as I was clinging on to the Boyfriend while we somehow get slowly swept away by the waves. The poor Boyfriend did all the paddling for the both of us. We then notice some of the others on the snorkeling trip having flippers and they seem to be moving around faster and easier compared to those without.

We decided to rent the flippers the next day with hopes that it will help increase our mobility during our snorkeling session. Over dinner after the first snorkeling trip, we discussed this with T and F and they too agree to try snorkeling with flippers. So the next day after breakfast we went out onto the beach in front of our resort with our full snorkeling gear, inclusive of flippers to practice snorkeling with them. Once we got the hang of everything on us, we walked across a short stretch of jungle undergrowth by the seaside to a small patch of rocks and beach with more fine white sand. This little bit of beach seems more secluded and we decided to swim out to sea from there to see what sea life we could encounter.

Small colourful fishes came to check us out and swim around us as we slowly snorkel outwards towards the open sea. It is apparent that with human presence, the delicate ecosystem below the sea is somewhat affected. The area near the seaside is barren and dotted with sea cucumber-like creature in different colours and sizes. Quite gross, really, seeing the blob of a creature just sitting there, jelly-like (No, I am not a fan of sea cucumber). Striaght Face

I was a fast learner (so proud of myself) and the Boyfriend and I manage to venture out to deeper areas while T and F followed behind slowly. The Boyfriend and I will swim together so we know what we are looking at and occasionally signal that something is nice with a thumbs up or to point to another direction so that we can swim with the same direction. While we were snorkeling in deeper water (feet cannot touch the ground), we noticed 2 fishes eyeing us ahead of us. One of the fishes was white and it strangely resembles a very familiar fish. I pointed at the fish asking the Boyfriend to have a look, and it dawned on me that the fish that was staring at us was a puffer fish!! We were both stunned, and quickly changed direction to swim away from the fish. It looked rather annoyed that we were in it’s territory. We both were more worried that it’ll puff up into a small ball. Puffer fish is also poisonous, so we didn’t want to take any chances offending it. Big Grin

The snorkeling session by the resort was again at 4:00pm and this time, the sea was calmer, so there wasn’t any hiking activities included into the itinerary. This time we were sent out to 2 snorkeling locations, and they were both SO GORGEOUS! A school of fish swam pass us. T kidnapped some bread from breakfast and brought it along. The fish was more than happy to approach us for food. Scary to see so many mouths coming after us. Haha. Big Grin  I was actually enjoying myself. Having my Boyfriend around, being able to see the fishes below, having made new friends, the clear skies with fluffy white clouds, everything was perfect. Winking
