Sun, Sand & Sea (Part 5): Goodbye, Until We Return Someday!

(Another photo heavy post ahead)

Well, all good things will come to an end. So must this holiday. The sunrise on our last day was breathtakingly beautiful. A reminder that there still are some beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters within our beautiful country. But of course, without proper care and maintenance, all of this will eventually be just a distant memory.

Walked around to take a couple of pictures of this place which we have called home for 3D2N. Though it was a short one, but nonetheless it was a beautiful one. We were suppose to board the 10:00am boat so we can get back to the jetty and be transferred to the bus station for our bus trip back in the afternoon.

At the jetty, our travel agency’s transfer transport was already waiting for us to send us to the bus terminal. Wow, luckily we did our souvenir shopping earlier and not wait since now everything is going in a rush.

We were bundled into the van and headed off to the airport. There were the both of us, T and F in the van along with another couple who was holiday-ing in Redang Island. The transport had to drop the couple at the airport before dropping the 4 of us at the bus terminal. Along the way to the airport, saw a blind man walking by the roadside and was trying to cross the road. As the blind man was quite far out on the road, our driver stopped at the side of the road to help the man across the road since that place was dangerous for a blind man to be walking around at. Another passerby on foot saw what was happening and offered to walk the blind man further on so that we can be getting on our way. After dropping off the couple at the airport, we were exiting to head for the bus terminal when we saw the blind man again but this time he was walking by himself at the side of the road. Our driver stopped the car and asked where the blind man was going and asked him to hop on for a ride. We then headed to the blind association located nearby (quite a distance on foot) and dropped the blind man off. According to our driver, the blind man was actually heading to the association for a meeting but found himself lost.

PING Anchorage, your driver showed us that there are still people out there who are willing to lend a hand for others in need. Kudos to our driver who helped the blind man (even though it was for a short period of time and for a short driving distance).

Our driver got us to the bus terminal quite early since our bus only departs at 2:00pm. F and T did not have bus tickets to return to KL so we helped them check for available seats on our bus back (yes, they bought the tickets for the same bus as us!) and then we deposited our luggage at one of the kiosk at the bus terminal with the intention to walk around the town.

Our little adventure walking around the town proved to be a very interesting one. The municipal council of the town did a great job creating interesting ‘stops’ along the sidewalks and in alleys. The alleys far from being smelly or full of rubbish. Instead, the alley walls have been creatively decorated with murals and bits of information about the state and town.

Walking around the town does make us hungry, so we headed for the “Chinatown” for a quick bite before heading back to the terminal to board the bus for our trip back. Had chinese food (didn’t take any pictures of the food) at the restaurant just after this arch. Saw their promotion for their many varieties of drinks so took the chance to just have our lunch there.

As we we were still hungry after that, and there was still a little bit of time left to spare, we dropped by McDonalds after collecting our luggage to wait for time to pass so we can board our bus. The bus was there at 2:00pm to pick us up. Found that the bus cabin was very stuffy, which prompted the Boyfriend to get very agitated and he went up to the bus driver to ask about the heat. The bus driver gave him an indifferent look and said that it’s due to the weather. The bus windows are pieces of glass sealed shut hence unable to open them for fresh air. Super uncomfortable!

The bus left the terminal and was still within the town area. Noticed the bus pulling over to the side of the road and felt that something was wrong. From the window saw the driver and his attendant get down from the bus and open up the engine bay cover to look inside. Sensing something amiss, the Boyfriend and a few other guys from the bus went down for fresh air and also go down to see what’s happening. I waited inside the stuffy bus, cursing under my hot breath that this will be the first and only time I travel via Transnational for the journey from Terengganu to Selangor.

After about what seems like 10 minutes, all those outside and inside the bus heard loud revving of engines. I was wonder what was going on and looked outside to see a whole convoy of luxury bikes riding by. The riders were sporting enough to be waving at all of us. Well, if we hadn’t stopped at the roadside, we would have missed the bikers’ drive-pass.

The rest of the drive back from Terengganu was uneventful, stuffy, warm and so uncomfortable. But putting that aside, the holiday was a great one, filled with lots of sun (sunburn!!), sand and sea. I believe that we will return to Lang Tengah Island one day.
