Eat. Love. Bali. (Day 1)

I tell myself that documenting this journey should be a daily affair (with me typing out our experiences in my phone when I am on site) however the procrastinating me decided that it's better to make do with whatever free time at the hotel that we have to sleep it off since the next day is going to be another full day of sightseeing and doing the things tourists do.

So here is my attempt at documenting our exciting and colorful 6 days, 5 nights adventure to the Island of the Gods, Bali. Travelled with the Boyfriend, Kit, for this trip and this marks our first overseas holiday as a couple and also celebrating our 2 years 2 months being together. *happy*

PA080011 off to baliOur flight was at 5:30pm hence our Day 1 is quite short. The morning was spent at the office since both of us are working half day on Saturday. Rushed off to catch our flight after work (we had to be at the airport at 3:30pm since it’s an international flight).

Reached the airport, check in our luggage and grabbed a light snack since both of us skipped lunch to make sure our office work was in order before we left for our holiday.PA080016 inside plane looking outThe Boyfriend was smart to have pre-booked our meals on the flight since we are flying so close to dinner time. By the time we are onboard, our light snack earlier consumed felt like it isn’t in our stomachs. Our seats was also pre-ordered so that we will not be separated (if you’re aware, if you do not pre-book your seats and pay the RM6 per person for seat selection, chances of you and your group being separately seated is pretty high).

My early dinner was a surprise when my “Lagsane” came. Gosh, I’m flying budget to an international destination, and the spelling error made by AirAsia is seriously embarrasing! At least the Boyfriend’s meal has the right label with no typos.PA080028 beef lagsane-vertPA080025 nasi lemakBy the time we reached Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, it was already almost 7:30pm. How careless of me to have not noticed that Bahasa Indonesia is similar to Bahasa Malaysia, hence our arrival was greeted with the signboard “Kedatangan” which I understood perfectly. Yup, blur me. PA080030 arrivalPA080031 plane arrivalAfter disembarking, we took a walk to queue up at Customs to get our documentations cleared. Security is tight and the queues were long, but Malaysians get a separate queue since we’ve only need to get our passports stamped. Couldn’t help taking a pic of this water dispenser with the unusual cup holders while waiting in line.

Collection of luggage is only done AFTER customs clears our paperwork. Then we’ve got to get our luggage and selves to go through the scanner.PA080035 airport water filterOur dear friend A recommended a guide/driver to us to take us around for the duration of our stay in Bali. Mr Made was LATE! Lol. Actually when we walked out of the arrival hall, we were greeted with SO MANY people waiting for others who have disembarked. It was a dizzying sight seeing SO MANY signboards held by so many people and it was like being in a pasar malam having everyone raising their voice hoping to attract attention. Called our guide, and he said he was in Kuta, on the way over. Well, had a few tour and van operators approach us which we declined nicely. Relieved when Mr Made arrived 10 minutes later. Was already so fatigued from the flight and work earlier in the day. Mr Made was nice enough to prepare 2x1.5litre bottles of mineral water as he advised that the hotel which we are going to stay in does not provide drinking water. That was a very sweet gesture of him.

PA080036s We booked this holiday online on AirAsia Go and it was during a promotion that we got our flight and room package at a very, very cheap price. So for the whole of our trip, we stayed at Tune Hotel Kuta, Bali.

By the time we reached the hotel it was already almost 10:30pm. There is no need for time adjustment as Malaysia & Bali share the same timezone.

PA080045 room 332The room is small but clean and cosy. Like their advertisement, their bed is seriously COMFORTABLE! As we won’t be staying indoors much, more so in our hotel room, it’s the perfect size for the both of us. Oh, air conditioning will be charged a separate fee for usage based on hours (12 or 24 hours), and hairdryers will be based on a daily usage fee. Apart from that, we still get hot/cold water and fan if we don’t opt for air conditioning.PA090052 tune hotel glassBoyfriend decided to take a walk around the area to see what is nearby the hotel. Half an hour later he returned to announce that he found some convenience stores and had bought some cold drinks and snacks for us to munch on before bedtime. By the time we hit the pillow it was already midnight, the end of Day 1.

Day 1 summary:
