Manual vs. Auto

To those who know me well, the set of wheels I was previously driving was passed on to Mum so she would be finally mobile. He was a real old fella, I will never forget the day I saw him and bought him. He came with modified exhaust, but the rest of him are stock standard. I had to change that exhaust since it was giving me unwanted attention since it was those big kinds which gave off a growl. Haha... Imagine guys in their cars turning to see where that exhaust sound was coming from, only to see it was from the car next to theirs with a lady behind the wheel. Haha... Other than that, I loved him to bits, and we went on many adventures together. :) In case you are wondering what is the make/model of the car, it is a first generation Proton Saga 1.3 Manual. Yeah, the pride of the nation. :P He has a mixed up personality since on the ownership card his color is "Kelabu" or grey, whereas he is in fact a chocolate color.

Sent him to the mechanic for his due service (change oil, filter, etc). The challenge of driving him now was something unlike any other. Why I say "challenge" is because Baby is automatic! Imagine, I have been driving Baby around for the past one month, and because I was so used to Baby's good nature and easy driving style that I found myself wondering how I managed to drive my earlier set of wheels around. O_O

Lets see, most importantly the drive to the mechanic and back was alright, had to make sure I do not bump into anyone since I was not really accustomed to the car (gosh, it was only a month ago that I was driving him). And now I realized how dependant I am on Babv's power steering, so he was a lot heavier to drive. :S Plus since Baby is high, this car was not and I ended up almost tumbling out of the car trying to get out compared to just stepping out when I am driving Baby.

To those out there still driving a manual car, I understand how you feel when you have to change gears so often, especially when in a traffic jam. I was like that for about 5-6 years when I drove my earlier baby. But I miss the power in the gear shifting, the great acceleration boost which is missing in Baby now. That feature is great at traffic lights or after clearing a toll booth. There is the other one feature which Baby does not have, which is the ability to be "push-started". This works well when the batteries are dead. Tried it once, great experience! :)

The difference is so vast!

Actually, in fact Baby has a kind mixed up personality as well, cos on his ownership card it also states his color as "Kelabu" or grey, but he is a blue grey color. Haha...

See the similarities in both cars?

I love them both to bits!

I can proudly say I CAN DRIVE BOTH MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CARS! ^_^
